The Winter Wonderland!!
If you ever get the chance to go up in the mountians after a snow storm, do it, it is simply amazing!!! One great way to get into the back country is by snowmobile. If you go on one of the groomed trails during the winter you most likely wont encounter any dangerous avalanche areas, but I must say when the sun is out and the mountians are covered in snow, it is by far the most amazing site you will ever see. At least thats how I see it, A true winter wonderland.

Attention All Home Owners & Real Estate Agents!!!
Did you know that having a beautiful lawn/yard can add 5 or more percent to a home's value? It signals that the rest of the home is well kept and is worth top dollar. A lush green lawn can also lower a homes air conditioning costs, grass remains cool even an the hottest days. Just 5000 square feet of lawn produces as much oxygen as two 100 foot tall trees.
Now this is very interesting despit the efforts to "rip the strip" or desertscaping. Over the period of a year, the grass blades and roots in an acre of healthy lawn absorb hundreds of pounds of pollutants from air and rainwater, including nitrates, sulfer dioxide, nitrogen oxide, hydrogen fluoride, and other gases blamed for acid rain and the greenhouse effect.
Good healthy lawns are not that hard to create, with a little commitment to regular watering, mowing and basic care, you can have a green healthy lawn that is far more likely to resist pests, disease and drought.
Check back for more tips and other information that you might find interesting.

Trouble Growing Flowers???
If you are having trouble with some of your flowers or have spots your flowers always die, we can test your ph level in your soil. A good neutral soil should be between 6.0 and 7.5, a high (alkaline) reading above 7.5 or low (acidic) reading will limit what you can grow successfully. Many plants actually prefer the alkaline or acidic soil. Soil amendments that are worked into the soil over time can improve the fertility and texture of such high or low soils. Some can change the ph level, there are many different types of amendments you could use here is a example of some.
Blood meal (no Joke this is real stuff)
Bonemeal
Compost
Sphagnum peat moss
Soil conditioner
Gypsum
Lime
Sand and gravel
Perlite
Garden Sulfur
Manure
If you would like to know what benefits each one of these different types could do for your soil email us at premierlawnservices@hotmail.com and we will send you back information as to which one's you inquire about.

New Services for 2009
Okay, so you already know that we have added de-thatching to our list.
We are now offering lawn mower service to those that mow thier own lawns, what might this be, you ask?
We are offering:
Blade sharpening
Spark plug changes
Oil changes
Air filter change or cleaning
little maintenance stuff that you dont want to do yourself or dont have the time to do.
We even do small repairs, like welding.
Greasing
We figure we already do so much work on our own equipment, that we are going to start offering these services to everybody, you can drop off the mowers or we can pick them up, we feel we can offer a faster service then the local shops. Sometimes the local shops will tell us we wont get our mowers back for three weeks, well, we couldnt wait that long, so we do all work in house now.
Tell your neighbors about this services or anybody for that matter. We feel its important to keep up on the maintenance on mowers , It gets more years or use out of them. For us, this is very important!

6 more weeks of Winter???
Well the good ole groundhog saw his shadow, I guess we are in for six more weeks of winter. We are still ready for more storms, plus we are gearing up for the spring time rush in our maintenance end of things. We hope the year turns out to be ok with all the people out there losing thier jobs, we wish everybody all the luck and lets get this economy turned around so hopefully we can all support our families. We will strive to help out individuals with cutting some services, to provide lower costs, to work with our clients to maintain a budget with out going over it. We need people to realize also that we need to work together to save money, some clients might need some services cut back or cancelled. We cannot work for free nor do we expect your property to suffer to bad, if we work together we can still make yards beautiful and maintain a healthy business. We hope all is well for everybody, and if its not, keep your head up.

I had to post this
YARD WORK - AS VIEWED FROM HEAVEN(overheard in a conversation between God and St. Francis):
God: Francis, you know all about gardens and nature; what in the world is going on down there in the U.S.? What happened to the dandelions, violets, thistles and the stuff I started eons ago? I had a perfect no-maintenance garden plan. Those plants grow in any type of soil, withstand drought, and multiply with abandon. The nectar from the long-lasting blossoms attracts butterflies, honeybees, and flocks of songbirds. I expected to see a vast garden of color by now. All I see are patches of green.
St. Francis: It's the tribes that settled there, Lord. They arec alled the Suburbanites. They started calling your flowers"weeds" and went to great lengths to kill them and replace them with grass.
God: Grass? But it is so boring, it's not colorful. It doesn't attract butterflies, bees or birds, only grubs and sod worms. It's temperamental with temperatures. Do these Suburbanites really want grass growing there?
St. Francis: Apparently not, Lord. As soon as it has grown a little, they cut it....sometimes two times a week.
God: They cut it? Do they bale it like hay?
St. Francis: Not exactly, Lord. Most of them rake it up and put it in bags.
God: They bag it? Why? Is it a cash crop? Do they sell it?
St. Francis: No sir, just the opposite. They pay to throw itaway.
God: Now let me get this straight...they fertilize it to make it grow and when it does grow, they cut it off and pay to throw itaway?
St. Francis: Yes, sir.
God: These Suburbanites must be relieved in the summer when we cut back on the rain and turn up the heat. That surely slows the growth and saves them a lot of work.
St. Francis: You aren't going to believe this Lord, but when the grass stops growing so fast, they drag out hoses and pay more money to water it so they can continue to mow it and pay to get rid of it.
God: What nonsense! At least they kept some of the trees. That was a sheer stroke of genius, if I do say so myself. The trees grow leaves in the spring to provide beauty and shade in the summer. In the autumn they fall to the ground and form a natural blanket to keep the moisture in the soil and protect the trees and bushes. Plus, as they rot, the leaves become compost to enhance the soil. It's a natural circle of life.
St. Francis: You'd better sit down, Lord. As soon as the leavesfall, the Suburbanites rake them into great piles and pay to have them hauled away.
God: No way! What do they do to protect the shrubs and tree roots in the winter to keep the soil moist and loose?
St Francis: After throwing the leaves away, they go out and buy something called mulch. They haul it home and spread it around in place of the leaves.
God: And where do they get this mulch?
St. Francis: They cut down the trees and grind them up to make mulch.
God: Enough! I don't want to think about this anymore.
Saint Catherine, you're in charge of the arts. What movie have you scheduled for us tonight?
St. Catherine: "Dumb and Dumber," Lord. It's a really stupid movie about....
God: Never mind--I think I just heard the whole story from Saint Francis!
Now I thought that was funny!

Well, we are glad the holidays are here

in the form of holiday lighting,
I actually probably smile more, because I love the look of the chrismas season.
From rooftops to trees, I enjoy driving aroung looking at lights, I really like the ones I put up:)
My little girl love it as well she always says "look at the christmas lights daddy" or "look at the christmas tree"
I hope everybody has a good holiday season this year now as soon as the lights are up.
Let it snow let is snow let it snow
I will post some more pictures, if you have any cool pitcures of your house lit up or of some you drive by send them to me I will be posting pictures of holiday lights

October Already?
I can't believe it's already October. Well as you may know you can turn your sprinklers down, many of my places are down to maybe once a week. you can always water dry spots by hand if needed. My house is currently being watering once a week. Plus did you know that now is a great time to Fertilize? Fall Fertilizing is great for your lawn, along with an Aeration , you can build a strong root system. That makes for a great lawn come spring!
